How You Can Make A Good First Impression

Making a good first impression does not only have to be when you have an official interview or when you are going on a date with someone for the first time. We meet different people on a daily basis directly or indirectly. That means that some how people are watching you even when you don’t notice them.

Here are 5 ways you can make a good first Impression;

Maintain Good Body Language: Your body language is referred to as a non-verbal communication. This simply implies that how you carry yourself sends a message to people even before they ever had a chance of verbally communicating with you. Your Posture and body language can tell a lot about your confidence level. Smile when you need to do so. Hold eye contact when discussing with someone. If there’s need for a handshake, make it firm.

Pay Attention To Your Appearance: Your appearance really matters if you want to make a brilliant first impression. You must have heard that you should dress the way you want to be address. I will add to that by saying that people usually address you based on how you dress. I am not talking about wearing expensive clothes (most people may not know how expensive those clothes are until you tell them). I am rather talking about dressing decently and appropriately. Your appearance should be clean and tidy. Do not put on something you do not feel good in. Remember what you wear affects how you feel about your self(self-confidence).
Don’t equally forget personal hygiene. A bad breath or bad body odour can mar your chances of making a good first impression. Wear cologne or perfume (mild ones) if you need to.

Sound Positive And Interesting: Attitude is easily noticeable. You should sound positive and enthusiastic during conversations. Avoid sounding dull or boring. However, don’t go talking like a chatter-box or a parrot. Don’t brag, sound arrogant or say something negative about another person. Remember it is your first impression.

Be yourself: There’s no need for pretense. Any smart person will easily notice it when you are acting fake or trying to prove what you are not. Believe me it can be a total piss off. You don’t have to lie about yourself. Be real!

Be Courteous: A good sense of decency and courtesy are very important in making a good first impression. Add “please” and “thank you” to your sentences when there is need for it (you should know).
If it is a formal meeting, do your best to be at the venue on time and make sure that your cell phone is switched off or placed on a silent mode. Put up the best of behaviors.
